Can I use Instagram as my business website?

By Humfrid ·

The short answerUse Instagram to be found and your own website to be chosen and booked. Instagram is a profile inside Meta's app, under Meta's terms, so it isn't a substitute for a website: a disabled account is no longer visible to others, and a hacked one is out of your hands until Instagram's recovery works. Keep posting, and put your website's address in your bio, so every follower lands on your prices, your hours and a way to book, on a .com that's yours. Humfrid builds that website from a few texts, live within a day, and turns the photos you text into posts on its blog.

Can Instagram replace a business website?

Instagram can’t replace one, and it doesn’t have to. The two do different jobs. Instagram is where people come across you: a photo in their feed, a friend’s share, a post from the place next door. Your website is where they decide: what you offer, what it costs, when you’re open, where you are, and how to book or pay.

Your Instagram profile is a grid of your latest posts with a short bio on top. That’s great for showing your work. It’s a hard place to find your prices, your service area or whether you’re free on Saturday. Customers have to send a message to ask.

Your website answers all of that on one page, any hour, with a button to book. It’s also yours, on your own .com, under your rules. Humfrid builds it for you by text, and the photos you’d post on Instagram can go on its blog too.

Isn’t everyone on Instagram?

About half of U.S. adults are. Pew Research Center found that about half of U.S. adults say they use Instagram, in a survey run from January to June 2026. That’s a lot of people, and a good reason to keep posting. It also means about half of adults aren’t on Instagram at all.

A website opens in any browser on any phone. A neighbor who heard your name, a customer who searched for your service in your town, a parent checking you out at night: they can all read your prices and book without an app or an account.

How Humfrid does this for you

Humfrid builds your website by text and keeps it up the same way. You text your business name and answer a few quick questions. Your website is ready within a day, on your own .com in your name, included. Nothing goes live without your OK. Then put the address in your bio.

After that, your Instagram habit feeds your website. Text Humfrid the photos you’d post anyway, and Humfrid turns them into posts on your website’s blog:

  • “Three photos from today’s job. Post them to my blog.”
  • “Open Saturday mornings now. Add it to booking.”
  • “Take a deposit for first appointments.”

Booking and payments are right on your site, accepted and managed by text, with online payments and deposits. Your website is set up to be found on Google, Google Maps, ChatGPT and other AI answers, and every week you get a report with your visitors and bookings. Photos and voice notes work. There’s no app, no computer and no login. Your website shows your own number, so calls come straight to you.

You can see your website free for 14 days and pay only when you want it live on your own .com. No contract, no setup fee, and you cancel by text. Humfrid’s plans are below.

What happens if my Instagram account is hacked?

You go through Instagram’s recovery, and if you’re locked out, you can’t post or answer messages from that account until it works. Instagram’s help page for hacked accounts walks through the steps: an email that lets you undo a change to your address, a login link sent to your email or phone, and support you can request from a phone if the link doesn’t work.

For an account with photos, Instagram may ask for a video selfie, turning your head in different directions to help us check that you’re a real person. If it can’t confirm it’s you, you can send a new video for another review.

Two things worth doing today: turn on two-factor authentication for additional security, as Instagram advises, and make sure the email and phone number on the account are current. And make sure your business doesn’t stop while you sort it out. Your website keeps taking bookings whatever happens to your Instagram login, and with Humfrid you keep it up by text, with no app login at all.

What if Instagram disables my account?

Then your profile disappears from view. Instagram says accounts that don’t follow our Community Standards may be disabled, and that your account will no longer be visible to others once it’s disabled. If you think it was a mistake, Instagram lets you log in and ask for a review of the decision.

If your whole presence online is one profile, a locked or disabled account leaves new customers with nowhere to look you up. A website on your own .com doesn’t depend on any one app’s account.

Who sets the rules on Instagram?

Meta does, and it says so in its terms. Instagram’s Terms of Use say we may change our Service and policies, and that Instagram can remove any content or information you share on the Service if we believe that it violates these Terms of Use. They also say Instagram can refuse to provide or stop providing all or part of the Service to you in the cases the terms describe. Instagram says it will notify you before it changes the terms.

None of that is unusual for an app. It’s simply someone else’s platform, and Instagram decides what a profile looks like and what it can hold. Your website is the one place where you decide what’s on the page and what’s at the top.

What can my website do that my Instagram profile can’t?

Hold everything a customer needs to say yes, in the order you choose:

  1. Your services and prices, in full, kept current.
  2. Your hours and where you work, including holiday closures.
  3. Booking and payments, so a customer picks a time and pays a deposit without a back-and-forth.
  4. Answers to the questions you get every week, so you stop typing the same reply in your messages.
  5. Your best work, in a gallery or blog posts, not buried under this week’s stories.
  6. A contact form and your phone number, so a new customer can reach you the way they like.

Humfrid puts all of this on your site from your texts, and changes it when you text again.

Your own website. Every follower who taps it should land on a page that says what you do and how to book, not a list of buttons. Put “Book now” near the top of your home page, where your bio link lands. For the details, read link in bio or a website. The same goes for your Facebook Page: see do I need a website if I have a Facebook Page?

Should I keep posting on Instagram?

Yes. Keep posting, keep your followers, and keep showing your work there. Just send every post somewhere: your bio link points to your website, and your best photos live on your own blog too, where they stay put. Instagram brings people in, and your website turns them into customers.

Text Humfrid your business name, and you’ll see your website within a day.
